backing track • rehearsal mp3s • scores • script backing track A backing track was recorded by engineer Darryll Webb, at Banquet Sound Studios in Sebastopol, California. Featured are Keisuke Nakagoshi on piano, Harvey Keitel on cello, and Amar Khalsa on clarinet. The track includes all of the 28 pieces in the musical; the 22 that are sung by cast members as well as the 6 instrumental selections. This recording is of excellent quality, truly great. How great? Well, when the pre-recorded backing track was used in a Los Angeles production – when the company didn't have funding to hire live musicians – it was soon noted that audience members were waiting after every show to applaud the musicians, thinking the music had been performed live off-stage. That said, we'd much prefer that performances of this musical include the 3 musicians on stage as an integral part of the production.
Rehearsal mp3 sound files are available for cast members, musicians and directors. They can be set up with individual part "up" in the mix, as requested.
